Hanoi is stepping up efforts to accelerate economic growth in the second half of 2026 by helping small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) adopt artificial intelligence (AI) and e-commerce to enhance competitiveness, improve productivity and create new growth capacity.

Speaking at the 2026 Hanoi Economic Forum on July 31, themed "Hanoi SMEs Applying AI and E-commerce: Achieving Double-Digit Growth," Mr. Cu Ngoc Trang, Director of the Hanoi Department of Science and Technology, said AI and e-commerce adoption is no longer simply a technological issue but a practical solution to improving productivity, expanding market access and strengthening the competitiveness of both individual businesses and the capital's economy.

The department outlined a strategic roadmap centered on integrating advanced technologies into production and market expansion while accelerating the commercialization of research and innovation. It also proposed building a comprehensive support ecosystem through a five-party collaboration model involving businesses, technology providers, banks and investment funds, industry associations and government agencies to connect demand with technological solutions, financing and policy support.

Hanoi also plans to maximize the use of preferential policies and institutional reforms to encourage digital transformation among enterprises.

The capital is currently home to 221 science and technology enterprises, more than 1,000 innovative start-ups and nearly 11,000 digital technology companies, providing a solid foundation for expanding AI adoption and fostering sustainable economic growth.
