Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh proposed that online retail giant Amazon put more Vietnamese products into global supply chains during a reception for Vice President of International Public Policy & Government Affairs at Amazon, Ms. Susan Pointer, in Hanoi on October 26, the Government News has reported.
Ample space remains to boost cooperation between Amazon and Vietnam, the Prime Minister said, and suggested that the group continue to expand investment and business in Vietnam and distribute more Vietnamese products and services via its systems, helping to promote Vietnamese products around the world.
Amazon has huge potential to develop its market in Vietnam, with over 17 million Vietnamese products sold so far this year.
Prime Minister Chinh also suggested that Amazon share its expertise with Vietnam in developing e-commerce, cross-border trade, and cloud computing, and assist the country in training its workforce in e-commerce, business management, and logistics.
Vietnam is accelerating the development of its digital economy, digital citizenry, digital society, and digital government, including e-commerce, with the aim of increasing the digital economy’s contribution to the country’s GDP to 20 per cent by 2025 and 30 per cent by 2030, he said.
Ms. Pointer spoke highly of Vietnam’s business and investment environment and the opportunities in the country, and committed to engaging more deeply in its digital transformation process, develop e-commerce and cloud computing, raise awareness, provide skills training to its workforce, cooperate with Vietnamese enterprises to manufacture products and equipment, and take more Vietnamese products and services to the world.
