Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has urged ministries, sectors, and localities to speed up the progress of major national transport projects.
In Official Dispatch No. 780/CD-TTg dated September 3, 2023, it is stated that the country aims to have 3,000 km of expressways by 2025 and 5,000 km by 2030, as set in the 13th National Party Congress Resolution.
To that end, the Prime Minister requested that the Ministry of Transport and relevant ministries, sectors, and People’s Committees of central-level cities and provinces continue to thoroughly and effectively implement directions from the government and Steering Boards for National Projects, and to direct local bodies and authorities at all levels to exert more effort, remove difficulties, and handle ongoing problems in site clearance, technical infrastructure, and the exploitation and supply of construction materials in order to accelerate construction progress and put projects into operation on schedule while ensuring quality.
He also requested that the Minister of Planning and Investment coordinate with the Minister of Finance to urgently issue documents guiding ministries, central agencies, and localities on capital adjustments for tasks and projects in the socio-economic recovery and development program and the medium-term public investment plan for the 2021-2025 period. Adjustments must ensure the maximum disbursement of allocated capital and immediately resolve problems related to capital sources for the Eastern North-South Expressway project and other key projects. Capital adjustments should be completed before September 9.
The Prime Minister also asked the Minister of Finance to closely work with the Minister of Planning and Investment to soon disburse additional capital allocated in 2023 and ensure project progress.
