Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh proposed that Vietnam and Italy continue to promote economic and trade cooperation while receiving the President of the Lombardy region, Attilio Fontana, and an Italian delegation in Hanoi on October 6.

He also recommended that Italy further open its market to products where it has demand and where Vietnam has strengths, such as apparel, leather and footwear, and agro-aquatic products.

The two sides should also enhance the exchange of visits by businesses and tap the advantages in the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EUVFTA) as well as accelerate the ratification of the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EUVIPA).

Prime Minister Chinh said the two sides should boost cooperation in tourism, digital transformation, high technology, innovation, green transformation, the circular economy, renewable energy, and climate change adaptation, and study the possibility of opening direct flights between Vietnam and Italy.

The Italian delegation proposed measures to boost bilateral ties in agriculture, industry, aviation, high technology, tertiary education, and other sectors.
