Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh asked authorities in northern mountainous Cao Bang province to focus resources on developing the Dong Dang - Tra Linh Expressway connecting Cao Bang and Lang Son provinces while inspecting the project on January 16.
The 121-km expressway has about 63 km running through Cao Bang and is being invested in the public-private partnership (PPP) form. It is among important national projects and key projects of the transport sector, according to the government leader.
Once completed, it will connect Tra Linh border gate in Cao Bang and Tan Thanh and Coc Nam border gates in Lang Son province with Hanoi and the Red River Delta region, helping promote socio-economic growth in localities it passes through.
As part of his trip to Cao Bang, Prime Minister Chinh also visited a number of areas and socio-economic infrastructure projects in the locality, including the Ta Lung border gate area, Border Marker No. 943, and Ta Lung 2 Bridge in Ta Lung town.
He said that Cao Bang should use border economic zones for new development momentum, thus optimizing their efficiency. It should focus on building transport infrastructure linking the zones, including a highway between northern Bac Kan, Lang Son, and Quang Ninh provinces.
