The Ministry of Public Security has reported that police detected 5,306 offences relating to regulations on economic management in 2022.

The information was revealed at a meeting in Hanoi on December 19 to review the performance of public security tasks in 2022 and discuss orientations for next year.

Police also detected 492 cases relating to corruption and abuse of position involving 902 people. Some 590 criminal groups were uncovered.

The police force also cracked down on thousands of drug cases, seizing nearly 700 kg of heroin, more than 4.6 tons of synthetic drugs, 104 kg of opium, 259 kg of marijuana, and 185 firearms.

Speaking at the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that despite the complex and unpredictable situation in the region and the world, Vietnam has successfully achieved most targets, including controlling the pandemic, boosting socio-economic recovery and development, and firmly safeguarding independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, defense and security, and social order and safety.

He attributed these achievements partly to the enormous contributions of the people’s public security force.

The Prime Minister also applauded the ministry’s moves in administrative and judicial reforms, e-government building, the enhancement of traffic safety, fire prevention and control, and search and rescue, social security works, and diplomatic and international cooperation activities.
