Poor and near-poor households at 1.97 million

National poverty rate stands at 7.52%.

There are currently more than 1.97 million poor and near-poor households in Vietnam based on multi-dimensional poverty standards, according to a survey by the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA).

The overall national poverty rate is 7.52 per cent, with 4.03 per cent being poor households and 3.49 per cent being near-poor households.

Data from the survey will serve as a foundation for the ministry to determine poverty reduction and social welfare policies as well as other socio-economic policies for 2023.

Under a government decree on the new multi-dimensional poverty standards, the income-based poverty threshold for poor households has increased to VND1.5 million ($63.97) per person per month in rural areas and VND2 million ($85.29) per person per month in urban areas.
