The People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City has submitted to the Prime Minister for approval the investment policy for HCM City – Moc Bai expressway project (first phase) in the form of Public Private Partnership (PPP).
The committee said investment in the form of PPP would help reduce pressure on the State budget.
Total investment capital (for the first phase) is estimated at over VND19.6 trillion ($770 million), with 49.31% to be sourced from the State budget.
The project has a total length of around 50.9 km in the first phase, connecting the southern city with Moc Bai International Border Gate in southern Tay Ninh province, which borders Cambodia.
Under the proposed project, nearly half of the expressway or 24.66 km will run through HCM City.
The expressway will have four lanes with a roadbed width of 25.5 m, allowing a maximum speed of 120 kph.
Construction of the first phase will be divided into four sub-projects and is scheduled to start in June, 2025, and is expected for completion by 2027.
Under a MoU signed in 2017 between the Ministry of Transport and the Cambodian Ministry of Public Works and Transport, the Ho Chi Minh City – Moc Bai expressway will be connected to Camboodia's Phnom Penh – Ba Vet highway.
