The Government News has quoted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as reporting that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will attend the expanded summit of BRICS – a group of leading emerging countries – in Kazan, Russia, from October 23-24, at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The Russian 2024 BRICS Chairmanship under the motto Strengthening Multilateralism for Just Global Development and Security will act precisely in this manner and focus on positive and constructive cooperation with all countries concerned, according to President Putin.
In general, Russia will continue to promote all aspects of the BRICS partnership in three key areas: politics and security, economy and finance, and cultural and humanitarian contacts, the Russian President said, as quoted by the Government News.
"Our priorities include promoting cooperation in science, high technology, healthcare, environmental protection, culture, sports, youth, and civil society," the Russian leader said.
Originally the BRICS included Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
In 2024, the founding member of the bloc will formally welcome into their fold five new members: Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
