The Ministry of Transport (MoT) has asked localities to review and propose investments in provincial roads to connect to expressways and boost socio-economic development.
The linking of provincial roads and expressways is important in helping promote socio-economic development in localities and the region and to maximize the efficiency of investments in expressways.
The building of new roads will be done in line with localities’ development planning for urban areas, industrial parks, processing and export zones, high-tech zones, tourism sites, seaports, airports, and international border gates, according to the MoT.
The ministry has required that local authorities give priority to allocating capital to invest in building roads connecting to expressways.
Vietnam targets having 5,000 km of expressways by 2030. Over 1,822 km have been built to date and put into operation.
