Central Quang Binh province welcomed over 2.4 million tourists in the first half of the year, up 7.08% year-on-year, according to the provincial Department of Tourism.
They include over 88,500 foreign tourists, marking a significant growth of 42.57% compared to the same period last year.
The number of domestic visitors reached more than 2.35 million, an increase of 23.07% year-on-year.
Total tourism revenue was estimated at more than VND2.8 trillion ($110 million).
To develop the province into an attractive destination for tourists, both domestic and international, Quang Binh plans to apply various incentive policies and organize many promotion programs, including a Tourism Week from July 6-13 for the first time. The event will features a conference on tourism development, art performance and a beach carnival.
Nearly 40 tourism sites in Quang Binh have been exploited, including natural parks and caves, with Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park, inscribed on the World Heritage List in 2003, being one of the most spectacular wilderness sites in South East Asia and one of the 2 largest limestone regions in the world.
