The People's Committee of central Quang Tri province has approved two significant projects: "Unification Park at the Special National Historic Site of the Hien Luong - Ben Hai Riverbanks" and "The Special National Historic Site of Quang Tri Citadel and the Memorial Site of the 81 Days and Nights of Fighting to Protect Quang Tri Citadel."

The "Unification Park at the Special National Historic Site of the Hien Lương - Ben Hai Riverbanks" project, located in Vinh Linh and Gio Linh districts, has a total construction budget of VND80 billion (over $3.1 million).

The project's goal is to restore and preserve the Unification Park, a thematic historical site, by gradually completing its infrastructure and enhancing its historical and cultural value.

The "Special National Historic Site of Quang Tri Citadel and the Memorial Site of the 81 Days and Nights of Fighting to Protect Quang Tri Citadel" project, with a construction budget of VND90 billion (nearly $3.54 million), is located in Quang Tri town and Hai Lang District.

The South Vietnam Liberation Armed Forces' fighting to protect the Quang Trị Ancient Citadel took place in 81 days and nights, from June 28 to September 16, 1972, during the war for liberattion of South Vietnam and for the national reunification.

This project aims to preserve, restore, and promote the value of this special national historical relic. Additionally, it seeks to establish a tourist destination for Quang Tri and the entire country, creating connections among regional tourist sites to foster sustainable tourism development.
