Central Quang Tri province has ensured maximum support for Thai investors, businesses, and partners over the years, according to a report from the Government News.
The report quoted Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Vo Van Hung as telling the first “Meet Thailand” conference in the province on August 4 that “Quang Tri hopes for further investment in fields where Thailand has strengths, such as industry, tourism, high-tech agriculture, port and logistics services, and the urban economy, among others.”
He added that the province attaches importance to expanding regional links to utilize advantages in areas along the East-West Economic Corridor (EWEC) through the Lao Bao International Border Gate.
Quang Tri is now home to seven Thai-invested projects with total registered capital of over $100 million.
It has established ties with Thailand’s Mukdahan province for 20 years and expects to sign an MoU with Ubon Ratchathani province this year, according to the Government News .
Addressing the conference, Ambassador of Thailand to Vietnam, H.E. Nikorndej Balankura, said participants have made significant comments on the topics of renewable energy and high-tech farming, as well as on orientations to promote supply chains through the EWEC, which would help raise the role of Thailand and Vietnam in the cooperation frameworks of the Mekong Sub-region and the Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS).
