Central Quang Tri province has sought permission from the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Industry and Trade to add over 16,000 MW of power to the National Power Development Plan VIII (PDP8) for the 2021-2030 period and vision to 2050.

The proposed volume consists of 4,600 MW of onshore wind energy, 2,600 MW of offshore wind energy, 1,600 MW of solar energy, 4,500 MW of LNG power, 2,500 MW of pumped-storage hydroelectricity, and 210 MW of biomass energy, hydropower, and waste energy.

Quang Tri is currently home to 19 wind power projects, three solar power projects, ten hydropower projects, and a rooftop solar power network with a total capacity of 1,090.7 MW that has been integrated into the national power network.

It has also approved investment in 22 energy projects with a total capacity of 3,707 MW.

The Quang Tri Department of Industry and Trade early called for the Provincial People’s Committee to propose the Ministry of Industry and Trade soon complete the implementation plan for PDP8 for submission to the Prime Minister for approval, which will serve as the basis for localities to carry out subsequent steps.
