Central Quang Tri province plans to build the Cam Lo - Lao Bao Expressway, with an estimated cost of over VND14.5 trillion ($604 million) in the public-private partnership (PPP) form.

The expressway will begin at the Cam Lo - Son La Expressway in Trieu Phong district and end at the Lao Bao border gate in Huong Hoa district.

The Son Hai Ltd Co., the project investor, has reported to local authorities on the results of the feasibility study for the project.

Construction is scheduled for 2024-2027.

Upon completion, the expressway will help link Vietnam with Laos, Thailand, Myanmar, and other countries in the region.

National Highway No. 9 is currently the sole route connecting Cam Lo and the Lao Bao border gate but has deteriorated and is often flooded after heavy rain.

The new expressway is expected to boost socio-economic development in Quang Tri and the region.
