Railway connecting Vietnam, China to be submitted to the NA for approval

The Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway project having estimated investment capital of VND195 trillion ($7.67 billion).

The Ministry of Transport plans to submit the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway project to the National Assembly before February 10 for approval.

The project will have a total length of over 403km, running through 9 provinces and centrally-run cities of Vietnam.

The route will start at the cross-border track junction of Vietnam’s Lao Cai station and China’s Hekou North station, and end at Lach Huyen Port of Hai Phong city.

Total investment capital is estimated at nearly VND195 trillion ($7.67 billion).

The National Assembly is expected to approve the project before February 17 and its feasibility study in the third quarter of 2025.

Construction is scheduled to start at the end of 2025.
