Rest stops to be built along eastern North - South Expressway

The Ministry of Transport (MoT) has asked relevant agencies to prepare to build rest stops along the eastern North - South Expressway.

According to initial surveys, the expressway, running from northern Lang Son province to the Mekong Delta’s Ca Mau province, will have 37 rest stops.

Five have received investment and been put into operation, while two others are under construction and the remainder are still being assessed.

The MoT asked the management boards of sub-projects in the expressway to prepare a list of rest stops for submission to relevant authorities for approval.

The construction of rest stops along the expressway must be comprehensive, from conducting planning to calling for investors in line with regulations, ensuring transparency and efficiency.

Approval of the network of stops is expected in April.
