Vietnam’s total revenue from retail sales of consumer goods and services reached over VND4.57 quadrillion ($169.8 billion) in the first eight months of 2025, marking a 9.4% year-on-year increase, according to the National Statistics Office (NSO).
In August alone, the figure stood at VND588.2 trillion ($22.19 billion), up 2.6% from July and 10.6% compared with the same period last year. The growth was attributed to stronger domestic consumption driven by a wide range of cultural events, festivals, and promotional programs held nationwide to celebrate the 80th anniversary of National Day (September 2).
Between January and August, retail sales of consumer products topped VND3.49 quadrillion ($131 billion), an 8.1% increase year-on-year. Meanwhile, accommodation and catering services generated VND552.4 trillion ($20.8 billion), up 14.7% year-on-year.
