Seafood export revenue in the first four months of the year is estimated to reach $3.45 billion, soaring 28% compared to the same period last year, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).
In April alone, seafood export turnover skyrocketed 30% year-on-year, amounting to $1 billion.
Among key products, shrimp export gained high growth with a turnover of $350 million in April, bringing the total shrimp export value to nearly $1.3 billion in the four-month period, up 35% year-on-year.
In the first quarter of the year, shrimp export earned $939 million, surging 37% year-on-year.
The shrimp export growth is attributed to the recovery of many key markets, including the US, China and Japan.
Shrimp export is forecast to continue increasing in the second quarter of the year. Total export turnover of shrimp for the whole year is predicted to hit $4 billion.
