Seaport to be built to serve Thai Binh LNG power plant

The Ministry of Transport has approved a proposal from northern Thai Binh province to develop a seaport specializing in accommodating liquefied natural gas (LNG) vessels to serve the operations of the Thai Binh LNG thermal power plant.

The port will be capable of accommodating vessels of up to 150,000 tons.

Under the National Electricity Development Plan for the 2021-2030 period with a vision to 2050, known as Power Development Plan VIII (PDP8), the Thai Binh LNG plant is listed as an important power projects given investment priority in the period.

The plant has a designed capacity of 1,500 MW.

It is a key project for national energy security and the province’s socio-economic development.
