The newly consolidated entities will operate under the jurisdiction of the Vietnam Maritime and Waterway Administration and are scheduled to officially begin operations under the new structure from August 1.
It serves as a key link in the transnational logistics chain, catering to growing import, export, and transit cargo demands from Laos and Northeast Thailand to the sea.
Once completed, the port will feature four berths capable of accommodating ships with a tonnage of up to 70,000 DWT and international passenger vessels with a capacity of 225,000 GT.
The project aims to establish a multipurpose port that will support economic activities, cater to industrial parks within the province and its surrounding areas.
Other localities such as Ha Tinh, Thanh Hoa and Thua Thien Hue have seen positive results at their port facilities after implementing similar incentive policies.
