The 14th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV) opened its second plenum in Hanoi on March 23, under the chair of Party General Secretary To Lam.
In his opening speech, Party General Secretary to Lam stressed that the plenum would establish "legal corridors", "operational rules", "disciplinary principles", and "standards of actions" essential to put the Party's Resolution into practice and create a solid foundation for achieving the nation's two centenary strategic goals.
The Party Chief highlighted that the 14th National Party Congress set clear objectives: achieving faster and more sustainable growth, improving living standards, strengthening strategic autonomy, and striving for upper-middle-income status by 2030 and developed, high-income status by 2045. To realise these goals, he stressed the need for a stronger Party, stricter discipline, more innovative leadership methods, and more decisive action.
On the agenda of the five-day plenum are many issues, including the full-term Work Plan of the 14th CPV Central Committee, the Working Regulations of the CPV Central Committee, the Politburo, and the Secretariat; the Regulations for the enforcement of the Party Charter; the Regulations on Party inspection, supervision, and discipline work; the Working Regulations of the Central Inspection Commission; and the Regulations on political and ideological work within the Party.
Meanwhile, at the plenum, the 200-member Party Central Committee will focus its discussions on the outcomes of implementation of the Party's Resolutions on inspection, supervision, prevention and combat of corruption, wastefulness, and negative phenomena.
They will also deliberate on personnel work for State agencies for the tenure 2026-2031, a five-year socio-economic development plan for 2026-2031 period, and a public investment plan for 2026-2031 period.
