Revenue from shrimp exports topped aquatic products in terms of revenue with nearly $2.8 billion in the first three quarters of 2024, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).
The figure marks a year-on-year increase of 10.5%, the Vietnam News Agency quoted the association as reporting.
Exports to key markets gained significant growth. As of September 15, shrimp exports to the US reached $516 million, up 8% year-on-year; the EU $337 million, 15%; China and Hong Kong (China) $529 million, 26%.
Exports to Japan, however, dropped 1% to $342 million.
VASEP forecast the whole year’s export value of shrimp reaching $4 billion.
