Vietnam’s agricultural sector developed sustainably in May with some sub-sectors clearly on the road to recovery, such as seafood and husbandry, according to the General Statistics Office.
Exploited seafood in May was estimated at 783,300 tons, a year-on-year increase of 2.1 per cent, including 566,400 tons of fish, up 2.2 per cent, 100,300 tons of shrimp, up 2 per cent, and 116,600 tons of other kinds of fisheries, up 1.7 per cent.
Aquaculture output, meanwhile, reached 421,000 tons, up 2.5 per cent year-on-year.
Total seafood output in the first five months of the year reached over 3.4 million tons, for year-on-year growth of 1.4 per cent.
The husbandry sector also showed positive signs, with the recovery of live hog prices, which increased by VND10,000-13,000 to VND55,000-61,000 ($2.3-2.57) per kilo.
