Labor shortages to continue into first half of 2022

Labor shortages will increase during the first and second quarters of 2022 as businesses resume operations. It is expected that recruitment will total around 700,000 positions next year. The Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs is drafting a program to restore and develop the labor market, with seven major solutions.

With economic development tending to focus on industry and services, Vietnam’s unskilled workforce will stand at 43 million by 2025, Mr. Nguyen Trong Tan, CEO of Chợ Tốt (Cho Tot / Good Market), predicted at the launch of Cho Tot’s new job searching website, Việc Làm Tốt (Good Jobs).

Labor market in HCMC and south recovering

The labor market in Ho Chi Minh City and southern provinces is showing signs of recovery as Covid-19 subsides, with many businesses beginning to expand activities to meet demand at year’s end. The city will need some 57,000 workers in the fourth quarter, while neighboring Binh Duong province will need around 50,000.
