An online survey of more than 69,000 people found that many are running out of money due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Under Decision No. 1409/QD-TTg dated August 16, 2021, the General Department of State Reserves has handed over hundreds of thousands of tons of rice and essential goods worth hundreds of billions of VND to localities as relief during the Covid-19 pandemic. The Department also provided more than 132,000 tons of rice and supplies worth nearly VND1.6 trillion ($70.5 million) in 2020 and goods worth VND650 billion ($28.6 million) in the first half of this year.

The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi has presented gifts to 270 foreigners living, studying, or working in Hanoi and facing difficulties due to Covid-19. The total value is VND229.6 million ($13,120).

Representatives from major car manufacturers have confirmed that the country’s largest auto show - the Vietnam Motor Show (VMS) 2021, scheduled to be held at the end of October - will be canceled due to Covid-19.

The Ho Chi Minh City Welfare Center has introduced an app called “An sinh” that helps people seek relief, food support, or medical care and can quickly access useful groups such as charity organizations. More than 200,000 people registered on the first day of launch.

According to the Hanoi Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the city has decided to support nearly 2.4 million people and households grappling with Covid-19. Total funding is nearly VND839 billion ($36.85 million), of which nearly VND676 billion ($29.7 million) will come from the city budget and VND163 billion ($7.16 million) from social capital.
