At an online conference in Ho Chi Minh City on deploying technology platforms in Covid-19 prevention and control efforts nationwide, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Huy Dung emphasized that the application of technology is crucial and deployment must be uniform.

The spread of Covid-19 through Vietnam’s food distribution system has become alarming and may trigger a large-scale outbreak. It is necessary to review pandemic prevention and control regulations for wholesale markets, traditional markets, shops, and supermarkets, and prepare worse-case scenarios.

Employers, vocational training centers, and workers affected by Covid-19 will benefit from a support package of VND4.5 trillion ($196.89 million) for training, improving vocational skills, and maintaining jobs. Certain conditions and standards must be met to access the package.

From both the health and economic perspectives, a new approach and a suitable long-term strategy is needed to more effectively tackle Covid-19 and ensure the maintenance of business operations for socio-economic development.

In order to ensure the quality of imported pharmaceuticals, the General Department of Vietnam Customs requires that, from August 1, enterprises present the original power of attorney, storage permit, and product test sheets when importing shipments of drugs and medicinal ingredients.

Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai has signed Decision No. 1376/QD-TTg on supplementing the Ministry of Health’s 2021 State budget expenditure estimate with VND5.1 trillion ($223.14 million) from the central budget reserve, to purchase supplies, equipment, biological products, and chemicals for the prevention and control of the Covid-19 pandemic.
