Starbucks Vietnam announced the opening of its first store in Hoi An on December 9, Starbucks Tran Hung Dao, which marks a step into one of the most ancient areas of Vietnam.
Located along one of the main roads leading to the entrance to Hoi An’s Old Quarter, the store has a stand-out presence in the neighborhood with great accessibility and abundant space for both indoor and outdoor seating.
“In opening a Starbucks in Hoi An, we understand the importance of cultural protection, which is why the store was designed mostly with wooden structures to retain the original ambience of the town,” said Ms. Patricia Marques, General Manager of Starbucks Vietnam. “We hope that with this concept, customers can enjoy a cup of coffee in a perfect setting that blends the modern and ancient, a unique experience available only at Starbucks Tran Hung Dao in Hoi An.”
According to Starbucks, the conceptualization of the store was driven by the architecture and the use of local materials. All doors are wrapped in wood, which brings a warm and classical vibe to all interiors. Even the Siren logo was made in wood, with confetti used as the main decoration at the entrance to keep the view and street theme of the Old Quarter.
Hoi An ancient town is an exceptionally well-preserved example of a small-scale trading port that traded widely both with countries in Southeast and East Asia and with the rest of the world. The town reflects a fusion of indigenous and foreign cultures.
It is also renowned as a beautiful tourist destination combining many traditional activities, local cuisine, and preserved architecture. On December 4, 2009, Hoi An’s Old Quarter was recognized as a World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO.
