The initiative aims to serve the double-digit growth target in the years to come.

Speaking at a meeting held in Haoi on September 9 with ministries and sectors on selecting a list of strategic technology products that need to be implemented immediately, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung  emphasized that it is necessary to focus on applying science and technology to production activities to improve product value.

However, according to the Deputy Prime Minister, during the application, it is necessary to pay attention to what problems this technology development will solve, what impact it will have on that industry and field, as well as its sustainability for developing the economy.

"There must be clear products and develop as quickly as possible to bring into full play science and technology achievements, prioritize budgets, mechanisms, and focus resources to bounce back," the Deputy Prime Minister said.

He noted that the selection and development of technology products must ensure the ability to master core technology, with patent certificates. Many ministries and sectors have experience in research, even real-world experience, so it is necessary to promote this to create products that are competitive in domestic and global markets; stand ready not only to produce but also to develop to keep up with the development of the world.

"The goal is to catch up, move forward together, and surpass to seize opportunities. That is our strategy," the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, there are still different opinions on the selection of a list of strategic technology products, and there needs to be consensus between agencies, then report to the Government to select priority areas and products for implementation. One of the urgent factors when choosing is to ensure businesses' readiness to participate in and to have a spillover effect for commercialization.

According to a report by the Ministry of Science and Technology, under Prime Ministerial Decision No. 1131/QD-TTg, dated June 12, 2025,  11 technology groups and 35 strategic product groups have been identified. From these, the Ministry of Science and Technology has selected a narrowed  list of 6 products, and 1-3 strategic technology fields that need to be prioritized for deployment. These products include large language models and Vietnamese virtual assistants; 5G mobile network systems and equipment; AI cameras for edge processing; blockchain platforms for traceability and digital assets; autonomous mobile robots; and unmanned aerial vehicles.
