General Secretary  of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam held summit meeting with President of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) Hun Sen in Phnom Penh on February 6, following the official welcome ceremony for the former at the Royal Palace earlier the same day, according to a report from the Government News.

During the meeting, General Secretary To Lam praised the remarkable achievements Cambodia has gained in recent years. He expressed his confidence that under the reign of King Norodom Sihamoni, the leadership of the Senate, National Assembly and Government, and the unity of the Cambodian people, Cambodia will continue to develop robustly, improve living standards, and successfully build a peaceful, harmonious and cooperative nation with sustainable development.

The Vietnamese Party leader briefed Hun Sen on Vietnam's current situation and the outcomes of the 14th National Party Congress. He expressed sincere gratitude for the enduring support of the late King Norodom Sihanouk, Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk, King Norodom Sihamoni and the Cambodian people during Vietnam's struggle for national independence and in its current process of national construction and defense.

In reply, President Hun Sen warmly welcomed General Secretary Lam and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation on their state visit to Cambodia, which took place shortly after the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV). He emphasized that the visit demonstrated the importance the CPV and Vietnamese leaders attach to the good neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation and long-term sustainability between the two countries.

Mr. Hun Sen congratulated Vietnam on the successful organization of the 14th National Party Congress and General Secretary Lam on his re-election.
