Vietnam’s Pay TV market is shifting from traditional Pay TV to internet protocol television (IPTV) and has become increasingly competitive with the presence of many domestic and foreign telecommunications service providers. In the first half of 2022, Pay TV revenue increased 14 per cent year-on-year, with IPTV revenue rising 300 per cent.
According to the Department of Telecommunications at the Ministry of Information and Communications, as of July, Vietnam had 125.7 million mobile phone subscriptions. Of these, the number of active subscribers who simply use calling and messaging services stands at some 43.8 million, with only 81.8 million active mobile phone subscribers using mobile data, or about 65 per cent of total subscriptions.
The military-run telecommunications group Viettel has been honored by HR Asia with a “Best Place to Work in Asia” award. This is the second year in a row it has picked up the award. Viettel’s success mainly comes from digital transformation.
