Revenue from telecommunications services hit VND139.26 trillion ($5.8 billion) in 2023, a year-on-year rise of 0.41 per cent, according to the Ministry of Information and Communications.
The figure is equivalent to 99.5 per cent of the annual target.
The number of internet users in Vietnam rose 4.09 per cent year-on-year to 78.59 per cent of the population.
Over 100 million mobile phone subscriptions are linked to smartphones while there are 84.9 million mobile broadband subscriptions.
Vietnam’s mobile broadband internet speed reached 44.92 Mbit/s, ranking it 57th out of 181 countries and territories.
Regarding the use of Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, the IPv6 application rate in Vietnam has reached 60 per cent, or 1.6-fold higher than the global average.
The sector targets posting telecommunications revenue of $21 billion this year.
