Vietnam targets to provide 5G services to 100% provinces, cities, industrial parks (IPs) and hi-tech parks of the country by 2025.
This is part of a plan to enhance the quality of Vietnam’s mobile telecommunications network by 2025, which has been approved by the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC).
The average download speed for 5G Internet services is projected to reach a minimum of 100 Mbps in covered areas.
The mobile broadband is expected to cover all national highways, expressways and railways by 2025.
The plan also targets the provision of mobile broadband coverage to all remote villages and hamlets currently without service, ensuring uninterrupted coverage along major transport routes.
Meanwhile, the 2G technology services will be switched off on land, except for Truong Sa (Spratly) and Hoang Sa (Paracel) Islands and offshore oil rigs.
