Dien Bien Airport expansion project gets underway

With total investment of nearly VND1.5 trillion ($66.04 million), the Dien Bien Phu Airport expansion project in northern Dien Bien province began on January 22 and completion is expected in the third quarter of 2023. The project will contribute to attracting investment in the fields of tourism, trade, and services, promoting the unique cultural values of local ethnic minorities and enhancing connectivity in the northwest region.

Dien Bien Phu Airport set for upgrade

Under planning approved by the Ministry of Transport, following upgrades, Dien Bien Phu Airport in northern mountainous Dien Bien province will have a capacity of welcoming 500,000 passengers a year by 2025, while its apron will be able to park four aircraft, including three large aircraft. Total investment will be VND1.547 trillion ($68.06 million), all of which will come from Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV).
