The two countries also agreed to pursue long-term cooperation in food security, with Vietnam committing to ensure stable rice exports to Malaysia as part of that effort.
Vietnam’s rice output is expected to reach over 43 million tons in 2022, and while domestic demand will be met there will also be 6.5-7 million tons exported, contributing to ensuring global food security, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Quoc Doanh told the “Transformation of food systems in Asia-Pacific” conference in Bangkok on October 5.
