Under the draft of the “Upgrading Vietnamese Labor Skills to 2030 and Vision to 2045” project from the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA), the goal by 2030 is to standardize vocational skills levels for about 50 per cent of the national workforce, especially workers in key economic sectors.
More than VND5.4 trillion ($220 million) will be set aside by the government for six railway projects in the 2021-2025 period, with construction of the Nha Trang - Ho Chi Minh City section hoped to begin by the end of this year. The Ministry of Transport is now urgently completing investment in four projects renovating and upgrading the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City line, with total capital of VND7 trillion ($286 million), and is preparing to invest in important new international routes.
The Hanoi People’s Committee held a breaking ground ceremony on October 7 for the “Strengthening sustainable urban transport for Hanoi’s metro line No. 3 project”, with total investment of nearly $55 million coming from loans from the Clean Technology Fund (CTF), the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and reciprocal capital. The project will help Hanoi strengthen the development of a multi-modal public transport network.
Hanoi held a breaking ground ceremony on October 6 for a tunnel at the intersection of Ring Road No. 2.5 and Giai Phong Street in Hoang Mai district. With a length of 400 meters and total investment of nearly VND800 billion ($33.5 million), the tunnel is a key project for the city in the 2021-2025 period and will contribute to the completion of the capital’s transport infrastructure.
The Da Nang Department of Natural Resources and Environment is holding consultations on an environmental impact assessment for an eco-villa project to the west of the bypass south of Hai Van Tunnel and another similar project in Hoa Nhon commune in the central coastal city’s Hoa Vang district. The total land area for the two projects is nearly 200 ha and total capital more than VND2 trillion ($83 million).
Construction of Long Thanh International Airport and connecting traffic routes is being accelerated to open on National Day, September 2, 2025. On October 2, while checking on the project, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue suggested that difficulties and problems that need to be resolved and are within the NA’s authority should be reported to the legislature so they can be dealt with as soon as possible.
Construction of the second component project, “Flight management works”, at Long Thanh International Airport, with total investment of nearly VND3.5 trillion ($146 million), began sooner than expected on September 29. Main items are the Air Traffic Control Tower and auxiliary works, which are expected to be put into operation in 2025.
Northern Bac Ninh province will invest in the construction of Kenh Vang Bridge connecting it with Hai Duong province at a cost of more than VND1.7 trillion ($71 million). This is a major project that links the economy and society of both and meets needs
The Cam Lo - La Son Highway connecting central Quang Tri province and Thua Thien-Hue province is preparing for completion, with contractors striving to finish everything by the end of October, meeting the government’s general goal of opening 361 km of the Eastern North-South Expressway, first phase, this year.
