According to KBSV Securities, despite the ongoing decline, the VN-Index is still forecast to reach 1,330 points by the end of the year, with average EPS growth of 18.3 per cent forecast for companies listed on HSX.

In an updated report, Dragon Capital said that in an environment of rising interest rates, expected returns in the stock market are unlikely to be outstanding. In the short term, the market will see many fluctuations depending on developments around the world. However, the influence of external factors on Vietnam is much lower than in emerging countries and is not systematic.

At an investment seminar with the topic “Transforming yourself with the market”, held on September 16, analysts said securities remain an attractive investment channel. As of the end of the second quarter of this year, there was about VND70 trillion ($2.95 billion) in cash lying idle in securities accounts, with investors waiting for favorable opportunities to return to the market.

The number of funds actively net buying increased, while the level of net withdrawal by some funds has fallen gradually.

The Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX) has said that trade saw strong breakthroughs in August, especially in the first two weeks of the month. The HNX-Index reached its peak for the month on August 15, standing at 303.97 points, or 4.8 per cent higher than its July peak. The index closed on August 31 at 291.91 points, up 7.3 per cent compared to July.

Under Directive No. 02/CT-BTC issued recently by Minister of Finance Ho Duc Phoc, the State Securities Commission (SSC) will closely examine registration documents for listing / registering for securities trading, especially for companies that raise capital quickly and also newly-established enterprises. The SSC will also work with the country’s three exchanges to closely monitor stocks with large liquidity, making unusual movements, or having valuations that are not suitable with the production and business situation.

VnDirect has forecast that Vietnam’s stock market may face a short-term correction in September, with the VN-Index approaching a strong resistance area of 1,300-1,330 points. As market fundamentals are improving, this correction will create a “good disbursement opportunity” for investors. Current market valuations are quite attractive to long-term investors.
