Ninety per cent of the adult population has received a fourth dose of Covid-19 vaccine.

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam has approved a program to ensure vaccine supply to 2030. It sets a target of, by that time, possibly mastering the technology to produce 15 types of vaccines, or least five types, with all meeting international standards.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Director for the Western Pacific, Mr. Takeshi Kasai, Vietnam has contributed to supporting countries in regard to pandemic prevention and control and has made active contributions to WHO and the COVAX mechanism. Thanks to the success of its vaccine strategy, it has become among the six leading countries in vaccine coverage in the world. At the moment, 99.98 per cent of its population aged 18 years and over has received at least one dose of vaccine, while 93.6 per cent has had the full basic dose and 11.5 per cent has had the booster dose.

The Prime Minister has requested that all citizens aged over 18 receive a second jab of Covid-19 vaccine before December 31. He also asked that a second dose for those aged 12 to 18 be administered during January, while those aged over 18 should receive their booster shot during the first quarter of the new year.

The government and the Ministries of Health and Information and Communication have assigned the Viettel Group to implement a vaccination management platform. The platform consists of four systems and is being applied in 62 of the country’s 63 cities and provinces. As of August 5, nearly 3.5 million Vietnamese had obtained a digital Covid-19 vaccination certificate via the platform.
