Upon completion, the route will facilitate a direct connection from Hanoi to Vientiane (Laos), while simultaneously linking with the Eastern North-South Expressway and the Ho Chi Minh Road.

The project is seen as a pivotal component in enhancing the economic development of the North Central region and strengthening trade between Vietnam, Laos, and the broader region.

The 60-km Vinh - Thanh Thuy expressway connecting the North-South expressway with Thanh Thuy border economic zone.

Under the plan, almost all the domestic capital from public invesment, or VND3.8 trillion (over $144 million), will be allocated to the project.

It is a key component of the planned 760-km expressway that connects Hanoi to Vientiane (Laos).
