Tax authorities conducted 38,866 site inspections at businesses and examined over 393,000 tax documents this year as of August 30, according to the General Department of Taxation.
They retrieved over VND9.96 trillion ($415 million) that would have otherwise been lost to fraud.
In the remaining months of the year, tax authorities will speed up inspections and examinations and supervise tax declarations by taxpayers, focusing on high-risk industries, to prevent violations and tax losses.
The Director of the General Department of Taxation approved the specialized inspection plan for 2023 on August 30, targeting 42 businesses in sectors such as real estate, construction, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics.
