Techcombank puts two new office blocks into operation

Gia Huy -

In celebration of its 30th anniversary in September, Techcombank has unveiled two new world-class, energy efficient buildings that will serve as its joint headquarters.

Techcombank appointed the globally-renowned architectural firm Foster + Partners to design two new offices in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City that have opened recently and will serve as its joint headquarters. The interiors were developed by Davenport Campbell, a leading interior designer, to ensure an unparalleled working environment for Techcombank employees.

“The opening of our new head office buildings is an important milestone for Techcombank on our 30-year ‘Be Greater’ journey,” said Mr. Jens Lottner, CEO of Techcombank. “We now operate out of two world-class financial buildings in prime locations in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City that all our people can be proud of.”

The Techcombank Tower Headquarters at 6 Quang Trung, Hanoi, stands strategically in the city’s epicenter, bordered by Quang Trung and Ly Thuong Kiet Streets.

Similarly, the Techcombank head office at 23 Le Duan, Ho Chi Minh City, boasts a prime location in the heart of District 1, sitting at the junction of Le Duan and Nguyen Du Streets.

The architectural design of each building carefully reflects the unique cultural and historic identities of the two cities. Inside, open designs aim to bring people together to facilitate and encourage cooperation and innovation, Mr. Lottner added.

Beyond their primary function as workplaces, the new buildings also offer a diverse range of amenities, including gyms and restaurants, creating a rich and inclusive experience for staff and visiting clients.

Culture reflected in design

Foster + Partners is a world-renowned architectural firm responsible for the design of global landmarks such as Apple’s new headquarters in California and London’s City Hall, which exemplify a fusion of cutting-edge technological innovation and sophistication.

The architects characterize the Techcombank buildings as “refined architectural pieces that blend modern technology with contemporary living styles.”

Paying homage to the essence of each city, Techcombank’s requirements for Foster + Partners were clear: craft emblematic structures that resonate with the local culture.

Specifically, while the Hanoi tower tells a tale of “Future in the Old Town tradition”, the Ho Chi Minh City building stands as a symbol of the city’s “Dynamic and Constant movement.”

These narratives are vividly portrayed through the distinct design features of each building.

The Hanoi structure elegantly melds traditional Vietnamese materials with a modern architectural flair, epitomized by its main façade’s crisscrossed wooden patterns against a golden backdrop reminiscent of ancient streets.

In contrast, the Ho Chi Minh City structure radiates urban modernity and vivacity, symbolized by its twin Rubik-inspired towers, reflecting the city’s bustling rhythm. Through these architectural marvels, Techcombank aims to resonate harmoniously with the urban landscapes, envisioning lasting value for the communities.

True to this philosophy, Foster + Partners’ designs for Techcombank’s new headquarters are not mere architectural feats but nurturing environments. Strategic green spaces and communal areas interspersed across the buildings encourage casual interactions, creating a cohesive working environment. This design stems from a broader vision: fostering a vibrant organizational culture where employees consistently find inspiration and cooperate to develop outstanding services for the bank’s customers.

Workspace for top talent

“Techcombank’s new headquarters offers employees an open and cooperative working environment comparable to modern buildings in other global financial centers and reflects the bank’s strong commitment to creating the best working conditions for its people”, Mr. Lottner said.

In 2022 and 2023, Techcombank became the first Vietnamese bank to conduct Overseas Talent Roadshows when it visited Singapore, the US, the UK, and Australia to recruit Vietnamese-born talent to return to the country and join the bank. In September, it also became the first and only Vietnamese bank to be named in the top 11 “Best Workplaces in Asia 2023” by Great Place to Work (GPTW), a leading global organization that assesses workplace culture. This is testament to Techcombank’s relentless efforts on its 30-year journey of development to invest in its people and create a working environment and culture that empowers them to achieve their full potential.

“The opening of our two new state-of-the-art office buildings not only redefines our physical presence but also sets new standards for workplace innovation,” Mr. Lottner said. “With modern amenities, sustainable design, and a focus on fostering creativity and cooperation, the buildings reflect our dedication to excellence. Techcombank can now offer a working environment comparable to leading global organizations, and this confirms our commitment to attracting and empowering the very best talent.”
