North-central Thanh Hoa province leads Vietnam in terms of FDI from Japan, with 17 projects, according to local authorities.
Total registered capital in the projects is over $12.5 billion, or 86 per cent of the province’s total FDI.
Vice Chairman of the Thanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Thi said cooperation between Thanh Hoa and Japanese partners has developed deeply and comprehensively in many fields, contributing to promoting the province’s socio-economic development.
Outstanding projects from Japanese investors include the Nghi Son Oil Refinery and Petrochemical Complex, with registered capital of $9 billion, the Nghi Son Thermal Power Plant 2 with $2.73 billion, and the Nghi Son Cement Plant with $622 million.
Thanh Hoa has set up a Japan Desk and established the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Association to help Japanese businesses and investors seek investment and business opportunities in the province.
