Thanh Hoa to develop LNG seaport

The Ministry of Transport has approved a proposal from north-central Thanh Hoa province to develop a seaport specializing in accommodating liquefied natural gas (LNG) vessels to serve the operations of the Nghi Son LNG thermal power plant.

The LNG port will be added to the South Nghi Son Seaport in Thanh Hoa’s seaport network.

Under the national Seaport System Development Master Plan in the period 2021-2030 with a vision to 2050, the South Nghi Son seaport is to develop a seaport complex to serve normal cargo, container cargo, and LNG vessels with a capacity of up to 100,000 tons.

The ministry asked Thanh Hoa authorities to direct relevant agencies on implementing the project in line with investment and construction regulations and the national seaport master plan.
