The Ministry of Transport has given the green light to the construction of the Rach Soi - Ben Nhat and Go Quao - Vinh Thuan sections of the Ho Chi Minh Highway
They have a total length of nearly 52 km, including 45 km in the Mekong Delta’s Kien Giang province and 6.6 km in nearby Bac Lieu province.
Total investment capital is estimated at over VND3.9 trillion ($162 million).
The roads will have four lanes and a speed limit of 80 kph.
Last month, the ministry asked the Ho Chi Minh Road Management Board to speed up a feasibility study on expanding the 66-km La Son - Hoa Lien section of the Ho Chi Minh Highway from two lanes to four lanes.
Total investment is estimated at over VND3 trillion ($125 million).
Construction is scheduled to begin in June, 2024 and be completed by the end of 2025.
The Ho Chi Minh Highway will pass through 28 cities and provinces from Pac Bo in the northern mountainous province of Cao Bang to Dat Mui in the southernmost province of Ca Mau.
