Transport ministry calls for faster construction of rest stops along North-South Expressway

Anh Tú -

Thirty-seven rest stops are to be built along the expressway and must be ready when the new link opens.

The Ministry of Transport has asked relevant agencies and units to soon organize bids to select investors to build rest stops along the Eastern North-South Expressway to ensure progress remains on schedule.

It asked the Vietnam Department of Expressways to coordinate with relevant agencies to review and simplify administrative procedures to quicken the construction of rest stops in line with local law.

They are required to report any difficulties and obstacles emerging during implementation to the Ministry, which will identify solutions.

The rest stops must be completed and put into operation at the same time as the expressway is opened to traffic, the Ministry has said.

According to initial surveys, the Eastern North-South Expressway, running from northern Lang Son province to the Mekong Delta’s Ca Mau province, will have 37 rest stops.
