Transport ministry disburses $1 bln of public capital in 1H

Construction of seven road projects and one railway project kicked off in the first half of 2024, according to a report released on July 3.

The Ministry of Transport (MoT) disbursed over VND25.5 trillion (over $1 billion) of public investment capital in the first six months of the year, equivalent to 40% of the yearly target, the ministry reported on July 3.

During the six-month period, the MoT kicked off construction of seven road projects and one railway project, including the two last sub-projects of the Ho Chi Minh Highway which will connect northern mountainous Cao Bang province with southernmost Ca Mau province from 2025.

The MoT completed and put into operation four road projects, including Cam Lam – Vinh Hao and Dien Chau – Bai Vot sections of the projected eastern North - South expressway which were built in the form of Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT).

Regarding railway projects, the ministry reported that the two major urban railway projects in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, including the Nhon-Hanoi Station and the Ben Thanh-Suoi Tien projects, are expected to be put into operation in July and December this year, respectively.
