The Ministry of Transport has proposed that the government expand the La Son - Hoa Lien Expressway in the central region, with estimated investment capital of over VND3 trillion ($125 million) from the State budget.

The expressway has a total length of 64.95 km and links Thua Thien-Hue province and Da Nang.

Under the ministry’s plan, the expressway will be expanded to four lanes by 2025 and six lanes by 2050 to keep pace with the increasing number of vehicles.

A recent ministry survey revealed that 6,910-7,265 vehicles travel on the expressway each day. The figure is forecast to increase to over 21,000 by 2030 and more than 44,000 by 2050.

If the project is approved by the Prime Minister, construction is scheduled to begin in 2024 and be completed in 2025.
