The Ministry of Transport (MoT) plans to kick off construction of 27 projects this year, including five key national projects, according to the Department of Construction Investment Management.
It will start construction of eight projects in the first quarter, including upgrades to the Hanoi - Vinh and Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City railway lines, the Cai Mep - Thi Vai navigation channel, and a section of National Highway No. 14E in central Quang Nam province.
Five key national projects are scheduled to see construction get underway in the second quarter, including the Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot Expressway, the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway, the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang Expressway, Ring Road No. 4 in the Hanoi Capital Region, and Ring Road No. 3 in and around Ho Chi Minh City.
Public investment assigned to the ministry in 2023 is the largest ever, totaling VND94.161 trillion (nearly $4 billion).
It disbursed over VND10.7 trillion ($447 million) in the opening two months of the year, or 11.4 per cent of the annual target.
