Trungnam Group has proposed the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City to make a feasibility study to build Can Gio and Thu Thiem 4 bridges under the build-transfer (BT) form.
The proposed Can Gio bridge spans Soai Rap river, connecting Can Gio and Nha Be districts. According to initial study findings, it will have a total length of 7.3km, with total investment capital estimated at over VND10.5 trillion ($409 million).
Upon completion, Can Gio bridge will help connect Can Gio island districtto the city’s center and surrounding areas, contributing to reducing traffic congestion and meeting local transport demand.
Meanwhile, the projected Thu Thiem 4 bridge will be designed to have a total length of over 2km, with 6 lanes. It will connect Thu Thiem residential area of Thu Duc city with Ho Chi Minh City's new Southern Residential Area. Its total investment capital is estimated at over VND6 trillion ($233 million).
Once fully operational, the Thu Thiem bridge is expected to help shorten travelling time between some district-level licalities of Ho Chi Minh City, including Thu Duc city, the districts of Binh Thanh, Nha Be, and Binh Chanh, and districts 7 and 8, thus reducing overload for existing roads and bridges in the southern city.
