Two ends of the But Pass Tunnel along the Vung Ang – Bung expressway was officially connected on May 19, according to the Ministry of Transport.

Construction of the tunnel, passing through But Mountain in central Ha Tinh province, kicked off last July.

Its total investment capital is estimated at over VND1 trillion ($39.3 million).

The 1-km tunnel consists of two tubes, with each being 15 m wide and 8 m high, featuring with three traffic lanes.

The Vung Ang – Bung expressway is 55.34 km long, crossing Ha Tinh and Quang Binh provinces. Its construction started on January 1, 2023 with an estimated investment capital of VND12.548 trillion ($494 million).

It is one of 12 sub-projects of the Eastern North-South Expressway during the 2021-2025 periods.
